Process of making the Magazine ad for the digipak



I started off with a base layer on photoshop as I wanted to draw peoples attention to the centre of the image which is why the first screenshot of the first layer is black has a grey spot in the middle. As I was fiddling around I realised that the background was really blank so I bought an image into it, however, I found that it was too slanted so I used the perspective tool on photoshop to turn the image forward. I also edited the colours on the church window image to give them a reddish purple tint to fit in with the red themes of blood I wanted to incorporate throughout the poster. I then blacked out the edges to bring the centre even more forward. the opacity of the image is turned down as well so that the base layer (first layer) helps the centre stand out more. I did this so that peoples attention could have a focal point to focus on.

I then incorporated my idea of the blood on the protagonist's hands in the image as I thought it was iconic. I put it right in the centre right near the focal point so that peoples eyes would instantly be attracted to it. With this, I did some digital painting to emphasise the blood and changed some of the filters on hands to make it fit the lighting of the church and the tone of colours in the poster. I used multiple layers, two pictures, digital painting and editing to get a completely unique image of the blood on the hands that you won't find on the internet and no company can claim copyright on. The amount of layers is shown in the second image. The third idea incorporates the idea of the car falling only when I showed others they said I should edit the image as the car looked out of place. Which leads me to the next image that incorporated the toy car that people liked a lot better.

I then included the album title name, band name and other informative text, however, it looked too cramped so I moved the text and got rid of the hand with the car which I will include in my album digipak design. In the second image, you can see that I made the text with the name of the singles bigger as I edited it on another layer to make it bigger and fit in the hands. I then ended up with my final design that is shown in the image at the top of this post.

In this, we see a dodgy city and then the camera moves over the clouds to reveal a buildi ng above the clouds called the feel good inc. This represents how in this building at the top you don't have to see the horror that is going down below the city its almost as if ignoring it makes it better/ ignorance is bliss. The light against the building represents hoe rising against everthing and the building almost makes it seem as if anything in this 'Feel Good Inc' tower is possible. Then in this shot, we get to see inside the building sh owing how dodgy it is in there too. This illustrates what y ou see on the outside (the sign that says feel good inc) is not exactly whats on the inside. The red background connotes danger and lust, linking to the sex drugs and rock and roll vibes going on inside the building. Extra final edits made to my digipak advertiment

It was said that my digipak still looked quite busy and that there was too mush going on. There was too many different coloured text and font variations which made the advertisement look to cramped. So I changed all font that wasn't to do with the artist or the name of the album blue and changed it to the same font, Didcot. I then moved some of the album information above the name of the album name to make the text look less cramped between the hands. I then moved all the logos down to the bottom of the advertisement to make the advertisement look more professional. I also changed the colours by putting filters on the image so that the advertisement stood out more.

Rough cut

This is my first edit of my music video for the song 'Take me to church'. While doing this I have realised some issues with the video for instance I have used a lot of my footage in this first section and I think I need to go back and re-film at those locations. For this first section I want to focus on setting the scene (location) and implying that time has gone and that this terrible accident happen earlier on. Reflecting on this I have booked another Day I can film in the church to see if I can get any better shots. They have kindly accepted to allow me to film and I'm changing my camera in a hope that it will take better to the lighting in the church.
