Evaluation question 3

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

one key thing that I would have to say that was useful about getting feedback was being able to connect with my target audience and see what they liked and would look for in a music video. this really helped my with the direction for my music video. is also helped me to develop the shock factor element of death into my music video. this is because music videos's these day can sell the song and much as the song sells the music video, for example iJanelle MonĂ¡e's - PYNK video with her extreme use of sexual themes her music video caught the eye of millions making her song reacher a wider target audience. this really helped her reach a teen audience because of its social media publicity and the people I had to talked to and got feedback from recognised her for this. this idea of shock factor to attract a wider audience through media is something I played on with all my media products with the use of blood and the death of a young child. Without the feedback to push this I don't thik my media products would have left as big an impact as they did.

I have learnt from my audience feedback that it is worth time to get a wide range of opinions from lots of people of lots of different people, but its even better if you can get it from someone the same age as your target audience. This helps you edit your products to exactly suit the people you would intend on selling it to. For example, my media product is targeted at a teenage audience (preferably angsty teenage audience) that was interested in the alliterative rock genre. I went and got feedback and help as they gave me ideas on what they wanted to see and what caught their eye. An example of what caught their eye was the blood and they gave me feedback saying that in my ancillary products I should use more of it and brighten it so that it caught their eye even more.

Another thing I learnt was that it is also appropriate to get feedback from the same person as they can see what has developed and what still needs to be changed and they are more part of the journey and making process of the products. This is different from other opinions as they can see ways that I have gone around problems and help me continue to progress in a way that someone who had seen it for the first time could. I found that when I asked someone new to look at the product they had less to say about the product other than that it was nice, whereas people who had already seen the product has looked at it for longer and could see more flaws and improvements that needed to be made with each time they looked at it.

I also learnt that it was just as effective to get professional feedback and feedback from others who had not seen the ancillary products yet just as important. It was good to occasionally get somebody new's feedback as they offered a new insight into things that I hadn't seen or took into consideration before, like the use of text and positioning of the key elements of my ancillary products like the blood on the hands. Getting my teachers to help give feedback was also key as they had seen multiple ancillary products before and they knew what worked well and what didn't, and what could help make my product more eye-catching, true to the media conventions or profession.

Getting feedback has helped me to see issues with my products that I might have not seen before and act on them. It has allowed me to get a second opinion and think outside the box when I couldn't. It also helped in terms of encouragement and inspiration to continue with work to finish an idea I had started with. This has helped me learn that trying to do something quickly like adding blurred shots into my music video at the end up to fill up space wasn't good enough.
