2nd magazine ad for digipak analysis: Rihanna

Image result for magazine digipak adIn this magazine ad for the albums release the layout of the ad is much more simple as it includes just the artists name, the title of the album, information about the albums release and popular singles featured on the album. It's good that they have featured the singles as someone might recognise the song and then purchase the album based on their enjoyment of the singles. They might also recognise the artist as that is the first word you read when you look at the poster as it is at the top, this could entice them to buy the album because they recognise her and they like her previous songs and her and then buy the album based of that.

The use of font is very clean and crisp and this makes the poster look modern. It's not too bold which is good as it doesn't distract from the picture of Rihanna which is the centre piece of the poster. The use of the word 'loud' relates to the picture as her expression, in terms of hair colour, is bold and could be considered as 'loud' as it is metaphorically screaming "look at me" and this catches your eye. Although, the pose she is in makes it look like she is being verbally quite as she has her hands over her mouth. This further connotes that the word loud is talking about who she is as a person rather that that the album being literally loud. It suggests that the songs on her album will be about bold topics that need to be said out load.

The use of red in the image and throughout the poster connotes that the album could be about passion, this is further suggested by the pink rose (something referred to and associated with love) and the red on her lips, in her hair and found in her sunglass lenses, including the reddish tint to the album photo filter. This idea of love is further insinuated by the title of the single written on the album called "love the way you lie"; the use of the word love further pushes the idea that the album is going to be about passion and love, with possible associations and links to the danger of it (as red also connotes danger). This will attract an audience that wants to listen to something related with the idea of love.

There are strong visuals in the album that relate to the idea of femininity. This is featured throughout the album advertisement. This is especially shown through the pink rose, as pink is known for being a feminine colour, and flowers especially are associated with females and the idea of being pretty and delicate. The idea of femininity is also shown through the strong amount of makeup she is wearing in both images of her, she has a graceful expression on her face which is also accentuating her beauty. This would attract young women who aspire to be as pretty as her and follow in her footsteps. What is interesting is that the girls who will go and listen to this album will also get to look into Rihanna as a person as the album is about the artists reflection of herself, shown through her cover that focuses on her self image, you can clearly see that the album will be about her.

The albums name in contrast to the artists modelling in the photograph suggests that the album is about showing that she is not just as pretty face but she is a 'loud' person with opinions, which is something that the listener will find out upon purchasing her album.
